June 30
The 4th of July celebration in Montpelier is this Saturday,
And Burrito Mountain will be set up on Gov. Aiken Way,
That is very close to the statehouse lawn,
Some celebrities have promised to stop by, like Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn.
I love "Overboard."

For the rain and lightening will last 'til 5:00 pm, it is here to stay.
Bummer.
Stay Dry,

Happy 4th of July in June
Independence Day in Waterbury is tomorrow on Main Street,
At the parade Ben & Jerry's will freely dispense frozen treats,
Look for Burrito Mountain on the corner of the Park,
And enjoy a pyromaniacs dream when the fireworks light up the dark.

June 23, 2010
Closed Today

Today there is a risk of thunder and lightening,
Some may find the risk of electrocution frightening,
Not Benjamin Frank, for he braved the bolts with a kite and key,
And paved the road for the theory of electricity.
It is this very same electricity that has convinced us to be closed today,
'Til tomorrow when we shall bask in the glorious sun rays.
Happy Rain Day,
Agatha

2010 Opening Day = June 1st!
Virtual High Five!

Wednesday May 5, 2010
Cinco De Mayo!!

Let us celebrate the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla,

When Mexico finally said to France, “hey man, we aren’t gonna pay ya!”

Naturally a battle ensued, and Mexican forces were led by General Ignacio,

He was brave, he was mighty, even though he didn’t have a Tom Sellick-like mustachio,

On May 5, 1862 Mexico was outnumber 2:1 at the famed fight,

Despite their smallness, Mexico was victorious that night,

So let this be a story of inspiration when you’re feeling small and defeatable,

Just eat a burrito, shoot some tequila, and you will become unbeatable*

Happy Cinco De Mayo

*Disclaimer: the “Unbeatable” claim is not at this time medically researched and documented, however, 99% of randomly interviewed subjects who have just eaten a burrito and drank tequila report feeling 100% unbeatable. The randomly interviewed subjects were myself, and my mom.

Always the life of the party, we are proud to call Hemp Seed Oil our friend. Hemp Seed Oil is known to be one of the most versatile and beneficial substances on the planet, and has long been used for its superfood properties. So superfoody that Hemp Seed Oil even looks good in spandex, and with it’s help, so will you. Check it out.

Can’t sleep?

Stung by a bee?

Got the sniffles?

all of the above? (wow, you have bad luck)

Well then, you have to check this out:

Cumin, another staple in the Burrito Mountain kitchen, is an age-old spice highly regarded not only for its saliva-generating properties, but for its medicinal benefits. Cumin is known to improve digestion, piles, insomnia, respiratory disorders, asthma, bronchitis, the common cold, lactation, anemia, skin disorders, boils, general immunity, and cancer. Whew, try saying that 10-times-fast.

So feel good about that burrito. The ingredients have been carefully selected with your good health in mind.

We do it because we love you.

Let’s hug it out,

Agatha

Tumeric- we love you

My brother Shaun is a renaissance man and, among many things, knows oodles about healthy living. For this reason, and his boyish good-looks (must be the dynamite DNA), Shaun is a frequent resource during recipe development at the Burrito Mountain R&D lab, and a big fan of Tumeric.

(Polaroid photo by Shaun Kessler)

Tumeric’s strategic addition to the Burrito Mountain spice repertoire continues an ancient tradition of making the world a healthier place. We love Tumeric not only for its happiness-inducing color (like foliage season in New England- awe), but for it’s seemingly endless list of health living properties, all of which have been conveniently listed below:

Top 19 reasons why we love Tumeric:

1.      It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns.

2.      When combined with cauliflower, it has shown to prevent prostate cancer and stop the growth of existing prostate cancer.

3.      Prevented breast cancer from spreading to the lungs in mice.

4.      May prevent melanoma and cause existing melanoma cells to commit suicide.

5.      Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.

6.      Is a natural liver detoxifier.

7.      May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain.

8.      May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.

9.      It is a potent natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects.

10.  Has shown promise in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice.

11.  Is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor.

12.  May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management.

13.  Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression.

14.  Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

15.  Boosts the effects of chemo drug paclitaxel and reduces its side effects.

16.  Promising studies are underway on the effects of turmeric on pancreatic cancer.

17.  Studies are ongoing in the positive effects of turmeric on multiple myeloma.

18.  Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.

19.  Speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin.

Wow. If Tumeric were a person, it would be “Most Likely to Succeed” in the high school yearbook.

So there you go, making the world a healthier place, one burrito and a time.

Thank you Tumeric, thank you Shaun, and most importantly, thank you Burrito Eaters.

Don’t forget to watch the women’s Olympic halfpipe tonight,

Where some Vermonters will be getting more air than Ben Franklin’s famed kite.

But remember, that no matter what the outcome of these Olympic games,

We love you, regardless, of victory, of medals, or of frozen dairy delight fame.

Good luck!

(pictured above: Ben and Jerry's limited batch of Maple Blondie ice cream in honor of Vermonter and Gold medalist Hannah Teter, so cool, and cold I guess)

Olympics update: Not that you're getting your news from burritomountain.com, but, Vermonters Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark placed silver and gold last night in the halfpipe. The gold went to shining star Torah Bright from Australia. She was amazing.

We all know that roses are red and violets are blue,

But at Burrito Mountain we have an alternate point of view.

Because Guns and Roses are not red, they are rock

And Willy Wonka’s Violet wasn’t blue, she was a childish fool,

So on this Valentine’s day, instead of hallmark prose and linguistic play,

We’d like to say, in the most animated way, that we wish you another sort of bouquet,

We wish that your roses may truly be rosey,

And that your violets will find your pockets full of posey,

And that you spend V-Day doing something that you love,

Whether it’s eating burritos, or something else full of warm fuzzies thereof

Happy Valentines Day

Tuesday February 9, 2010

We are so proud to have such a strong team from Vermont,

We’ll watch you on screen with our good friends Swiss Miss and a chocolate croissant

Good Luck at the Games!

If you need Saturday plans and you feel so inclined,
Please join me on in Waterbury for a snowshoe climb.

We'll be serving burritos at the Green Mountain Club's annual event,
Where you can eat, and climb, and be happy you went.

All proceeds will benefit the Green Mountain Club,
So that they may continue to spread long trail joy while eating good grub.

See you there!

Dear Burrito Eaters,

Allow me, if you will, to take a minute of your time,

To fill your heart with pretty pose and rhyme.

Thank you dear burrito eaters, for eating our burritos,

I hope that they suit you well, like Michael Phelps in a Speedo.

Please know that for your business I have the utmost gratitude,

So much so that it cannot be located by normal lines of longitude or latitude,

By this I mean my thankfulness is immeasurable,

And that business with you is nothing short of pleasurable.

With that I extend to you a virtual “high five,”

As I metaphorically delve into Lake Burrito in a blissful swan dive.

Tuesday December 1, 2009
It's the first day of December, the holiday season is here!
A time for hugging neighbors and filling them with cheer,
A time for singing carols, even if your voice is bad,
A time for hot cocoa and feetsie pajamas that are plaid.

Happy December 1st!
